Uploading to the Cloud is the New Norm

Due to the pandemic, companies have made a successful transition to getting their jobs done online/at home rather than inside of the office.  With this comes great trust in employees to accomplish as much as they can being at home.  Companies must give in to new ways of data storage and computing power, as this makes company files easier to save and access whether one is at home or in the office.  Enterprise Strategy Group reported that 84% of enterprises stated that they use public cloud resources as the pandemic inspired cost containment strategies.  This shows that top cloud platforms such as, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, Alibaba, and many more, are thriving from the number of new users reaching out to their resources.  I believe the engagement in public cloud services is very important in the world we live in today.  People all over the world rely on these services to save data that has been created by the user.  As a student, I could not think of a more reliable and productive way to save my documents by uploading them to the cloud.  By doing so, I can access my work on any of my devises wherever I please.  The article states that IT spending will decline 8% this year, but investment in cloud services remain at a high.  This growth will only rise, as I cannot imagine companies neglect the use of cloud services since it is an improvement for at home work.

This article does not state much more about the success and growth that cloud services has had on companies.  I am interested in where cloud service providers will take their users next.  Like all companies, they fight for more clients and people to use what they have to offer.  I am one who has used both the Apple and Google cloud, depending on what account and device I wish to use.  As a current client, I am curious to see what these services can come up with next to potentially make me want to use one over the other.  As of now, it does not seem to me like these companies are trying to monopolize each other.  Like myself, I think the average public cloud user is aware of how to use different services and uses the one that best fits for them at the time.  Overall, I think this article was well written and gave good data on where our current cloud providers stand to all of its users.  The data that was collected relates to all of the providers, but it never mentions how each are doing over the other.  I would have liked to see where the Apple cloud stands compared to the Google cloud, statistics such as, what companies or age range of people use one over the other.  We do know that cloud services collectively are very popular and will continue to grow.
